Frequently asked questions
Do the Coconut Cookies contain palm oil?
Yes, according to the ingredients list, they contain palm fat in addition to butterfat.
How does Zuckerschmuck calculate the carbohydrates to be counted (Net Carbs)?
For the shop listing, we subtract the listed polyols from the carbohydrates. Always compare the same reference amount, such as 100 g. This is our calculated Net Carbs figure and not an individual insulin-dosing recommendation.
How do I convert the carbohydrates to be counted into KE or BE?
Use the Diabetes KE Calculator from Zuckerschmuck: Select an item from the range or enter the value per 100 g, specify the amount in grams, and the carbohydrates to be counted will be converted into KE and BE; the calculator does not provide a dosing recommendation. One KE corresponds to 10 g of carbohydrates, and one BE to 12 g of carbohydrates.
Where can I buy cookies or biscuits for people with diabetes?
Many customers buy cookies for people with diabetes here as sugar-free cookies with few carbohydrates to be counted. “For people with diabetes” is no longer an official product category; what matters are the nutrition facts per serving in the table on this page.

How do I calculate insulin for low carb products?
Low-carb products say "sugar-free" on the packaging, but the carbohydrates are usually very high. What does that mean and how much insulin do I need for it? The carbohydrates from polyhydric alcohols have no effect on the metabolism and do not increase blood sugar levels, so they do not need to be calculated in terms of insulin dosage. In concrete terms, this means: you check the packaging to see how many carbohydrates are stated. From that, you subtract the information "of which polyhydric alcohols". The result is the number that you need to take into account in terms of insulin dosage.
